A HEART-FELT WELCOME AND "SHIP AHOY"Since 1924, it has been possible to enjoy the magnificent river scenery of the Danube between Kelheim and Weltenburg Abbey on board the excursion ships of Personenschiffahrt Stadler GmbH & Co. KG. In the beginning, doing this required a great deal of effort on the part of Kelheim's fishermen. The things we take for granted today involved overcoming a number of difficulties and hindrances back then. The political and economic situation at any given time also had a marked influence on excursion traffic.
From such inauspicious beginnings, an impressive company has developed, with its ships MFS "Weltenburg" und MFS "Kelheim". Regular service in the Danube valley from Kelheim to Weltenburg Abbey via the Danube Gorge is offered from mid-March to the end of October and in the Altmühl valley between Kelheim and Riedenburg from the end of April to mid-October; individually-tailored extra cruises between Weltenburg and Straubing, along the Bavaian Danube, and between Kelheim and Berching, along the Main-Danube-Canal, can be booked year-round.
